Discover The Diverse Heritage Of Asia In Seattle Chinatown

Seattle has a very rich and diverse Asian Culture in the area of Chinatown, but throughout. You’ll get a very nice mix of Filipino, Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotian and other different mainland and Pacific Islander culture.

Some great places to visit so you can soak up the culture include: Kubota Garden (showcasing an excellent garden park vibe from a Japanese perspective), Panama Hotel and Tea House (featuring traditional Japanese bath house stylings), and Bruce Lee’s grave site (an excellent place to pay respect to Jeet Kune Do founder and the first major Asian-American action star).Check out this link here.

Chinese New Year aka Lunar New Year is always a big spectacle. Everything gets really decorative and great colors of red and yellow. You’ll see Chinatown become something really special. You can really get into the festive culture with streams of bright red paper decorated in beautiful calligraphy. There are different lion and dragon performers with people playing the drums to show the more traditional side of Asian culture. During the summertime, there is an event called Dragon Fest which showcases dances, performances, crafts for kids and much more. It’s an excellent way to get out there, enjoy your family and immerse in different Asian cultures.
